Community Empowerment Centre Launched in Marondera

MARONDERA – A community learning centre which seeks to address at gender-based violence ( GBV) and food insecurity among women and youths, Shamwari Yepedyo was launched in Marondera on Saturday.

Speaking at the launch World Changers Organisation founder and entrepreneur Kundai Masache said the strategic goal of this centre is to curb gender-based violence by creating awareness and guaranteeing food security through capacity building.

“We have started with this egg production process which I believe it will emancipate women, the learning center will receive professional lessons from Profeeds company henceforth it will serve as educational hub for young people and women in Marondera and the sorrounding communities”.

Councillor for the area (Ward 10), Jimmy Jalifu thanked Masache for setting up such an initiative and challenged other youths to take up community responsibility.

“I would like to thank Masache for starting this initiative which will go a long way in curbing gender-based violence (GBV) and drug and substance abuse amongst the youths. To the youths here present kindly learn from Masache, desist from drug abuse and help our community through such projects,” said Jalifu

Guest of honor at the event, Associated Tyres Director, Tracey Hunter salutes Masache for hard work and commitment in helping his community.

She said, “I am proud and honoured to see Kundai’s determination in his programs that are meant to help communities and I vow to continue in supporting him in this project”.

The initiative is sponsored by the Embassy of Netherlands in Zimbabwe.
