Women in Tourism embraces national clean up exercise

HARARE – National Chairperson of Women in Tourism Zimbabwe Idah Kamushinda hailed the national clean up exercise that was held last Friday at Machipisa Shopping Centre in Highfield.

The clean up exercise was officiated by the Minister of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Mangaliso Ndlovu and Secretary for Harare Metropolitan Province Tafadzwa Muguti.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event Kamushinda said the clean up exercise thrives in creating a clean environment in which the local tourism can prosper.

“Today i joined the Minister of Tourism in cleaning Machipisa Shopping Centre so that we continue to raise awareness to members of the public about the importance of having a cleaner environment. Speaking from a tourism perspective the national clean up exercise is very much connected to the growth of our domestic tourism as a country.”

She also hailed young people who are currently embarking on some green initiatives such as waste collection and waste recycling which are contributing towards reduction of waste in most urban communities.

” I would like to also implore young people who have taken upon themselves to embark on sustainable waste management practices. Such initiatives are proving to be more effective towards waste reduction in communities.”

The Women In Tourism Chairperson was among government officials who planted trees at Machipisa Shopping Centre signaling resemblance of good environment stewardship.
