A Zanu PF councilor in Mazowe, Chiweshe, is underfire after he allegedly threatened a woman who reported a case of sexual harassment by a senior council official recently.
Cllr Israel Nyanhi of Ward 8, Nzvimbo Growth Point is said to have approached Mrs Barbra Tsvataga threatening her with unspecified actions if she does not withdraw sexual harassment charges.
She recently filed a case of sexual harassment with the police against Mazowe Rural District Council acting chief executive officer Admire Chikonamombe.
However, in a new development cllr Nyanhi a close associate of the council boss is said to have approached the helpless woman to go and withdraw charges despite the fact that the case is still under investigation.
“Everything is on record and the council boss is reported to have admitted to surely having sexually harassed the woman and they are now making attempts to get her to drop the charges as the heat on the case increases,” said a source close to the development.
“Nyanhi is threatening the woman with certain actions if she does not withdraw the case against his boss Chikonamombe,”
Apparently, Nyanhi has a pending court case in which he is standing trial for abuse of devolution funds among them including five tons of cement meant for development agendas that mysteriously disappeared under his supervision.
Sometime last week, Chikonamombe is reported to have gone on an inquiry over the operations of the council bar at Nzvimbo Growth point where Tsvataga stays.
Upon arriving at the bar Chikonamombe peeped through Tsvataga window when coincidentally she was just coming from the bathroom and naked.
However, despite noticing her nudity he went on to quiz her about the bar operations whilst she was undressed as he was standing at the window.
This did not go down well with Tsvataga who went on to report the case to the police and also escalated the issue along the Zanu PF party protocol with the women’s league to intervene.
According to sources close to the events, Chikonamombe is reported to have confessed that the incident surely took place.
