High Court to hear Rosa Clinic land wrengle

HIGH Court is set to hear a case between Chiweshe villagers and Mazowe Rural District Council (MRDC) after the latter allegedly parcelled out land reserved for expansion of Rosa Hospital to businesspeople.

The matter was filled at the High Court under case  number HC2649/22.

In March last year the village heads pettioned Mazowe Central legislator Sydney Chidamba (Zanu PF) and party’s local leadership to assist them and they went to meet them and promised that action would be taken.

The hospital administration said it is in need of more land to expand the hospital and build staff houses.

Council engineer Cleophas Mupereki confirmed that they did not consult the village heads during allocation of the stands which encroached into hospital land.

“We did not consult you (village heads) because it was expansion of the land that had already been allocated through the initiative of ward nine and 10 councillors,” Mupereki said during the meeting.

Furthermore, MRDC was being investigated by Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption after an out cry by residents on stands graft but no action or communication was made prompting some ZANU PF councillor who did not benefit from the alleged corruption to boil over the ZACC report in a full council meeting last week.
