Popular Zimbabwe Broadcasting Cooperation, News Anchor Mcdonald Gurura leaves the national broadcaster after seven.
Gurura announced the development on his Facebook post on Saturday.
Below is Gurura’s post…..
AND THAT’S A WRAP!
Last night, Friday the 11th of February 2022, I read my final bulletin as main news anchor on ZBC News Online wrapping up a 7 year career with the state broadcaster.
These 7 years came in 2 stints which also includes a significant part on radio ie Classic263 something many of you may not be aware of. But what a journey it has been! I’ve seen it all, the good, the bad and the ugly!
I’ve had tears, I’ve had joy, I’ve cried, I’ve laughed. I’ve met strangers who became acquaintances then some became friends whilst a precious few became family!
I’ve bombed on radio and TV(remind of the Oscar Pistorious time, i have a classic story for you). I’ve also won local and international awards on the TV platform. I really can go on with the priceless moments i’ve had at ZBC so i’ll stop here and just sum it up in a few words;
I’m extremely grateful for the times at ZBC, the mentors, colleagues, friends and yes even the foes! All our interactions have played a part in moulding who Gurura is today!
And now i step into a new chapter, a chapter where I see growth, wisdom & maturity. So yuh I had to write this for my friends, my future self and my great grandchildren! “Kwatinoenda kure, kwatinobva kure” as Ishan aptly put it!
Who would have thought a tall, skinny boy from Chitungwiza would scale from obscurity to becoming one of the most easily recognizable voices & faces in Zimbabwe doing great things? It can only be God’s hand! And if he can raise me up, surely he’ll do the same for you!
By the way I put together a book titled The Reset ZW An A-Z Guide To Thrive In Trying Times, so holla for your copy, if that book does not change your life i’ll refund your $10.
Anyway long story short, many thanks to ZBC and all those who have walked with me on this journey may God blast you, sorry, I mean bless you! Let’s take life by it’s horns and win.
My name is GURURA, McDonald GURURA!
