FULL STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER NDHLOVU BELOW……

Today the 6th of January 2022, I officially opened a new Environmental Management Agency (EMA) office in Esigodini, uMzingwane District, Matebeleland South Province.

The construction of the new office signifies total commitment to creating an enabling environment towards promoting sustainable utilisation of natural resources and protection of the environment.

The initiative gives Umzingwane the much deserved facelift, which is crucial for enhancing the Environmental Management Agency’s corporate image.

The milestone achievement also fits perfectly into the devolution agenda, which promotes development of sustainable and resilient infrastructure not only in cities such as Harare or Bulawayo, but also at a local level.

More importantly, the construction of contemporary offices in all districts throughout the country resonates well with the decentralisation programme as expounded by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde. ED Mnangagwa, in his vision for the economy to be an upper middle class by 2030.

I applaud the EMA Board and Management for championing the noble cause of capacitating the hinterland in resonance with the aspirations of the devolution agenda.

Among those who attended the occasion were the Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Hon A. Ncube, Deputy Minister for Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon B. Rwodzi, Permanent Secretary for Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Mr M Munodawafa, Chiefs, Legislators, Senators, and other Senior Government Officials.
