HARARE –The trial for suspended Harare City town clerk Hosiah Abraham Chisango has opened a can of worms with the key witness in the matter George Katsimberis nailing Chisango and “justice fugitive” Pokugara Properties CEO Kenneth Raydon Sharpe.

Chisango is facing charges of criminal abuse of office and perjury emanating from the botched land deal between Sharpe and Katsimberis.

According to the State led by Zivanai Macharaga alleges that sometime in 2018 at the High Court of Zimbabwe Civil Division, Harare, Chisango, in his own capacity and representing City of Harare filed a false written statement in case HC 8943/18 and lied in that affidavit that there was no payment that was made to the 2nd accused person (Harare City Council) for approval of building plans which were attached to one land developer Georgios Katsimberis’ founding affidavit when in fact a payment of US$3,707 had been processed.

“Hosiah Chisango in his personal capacity and as well as the Town Clerk representative of 2nd Accused jointly filed a false written statement in case HC 8943/18 knowingly or realizing that there was real risk or possibility that the statement was false.

“And lied in that affidavit that there was no payment that was made to the 2nd accused person for approval of building plans which were attached to the applicant’s founding affidavit in case HC 8943/19 when in actual a payment of US$3, 797, 00 was made to the 2nd Applicant for such approval,” read Court documents seen by The Harare Times.

Chisango also reportedly lied that the show house built by Katsimberis was built without approved building plans. This prompted the demolition of the US$300,000 show house without a court order.

Katsimberis testified everything that he did was above board and he correctly cited Chisango and the City of Harare.

“Your worship I don’t know how City of Harare officials runs or handle their day to day work, what I know is I have made my applications at Cleveland House for certain criteria and channels used by one to get approved to build in the city, and I did that and I don’t know where their security stamps kept. I have paid for the building plans and required council fees to the City of Harare Bank account,” said Katsimberis

Chisango has become resident at the Harare Magistrate Courts resident. He is facing a litany of charges ranging from abuse of office and corruption emanating from shoddy land dealings resulting in the City of Harare losing over US$5 million.

The matter was been postponed to the 27th of November 2021.
