HARARE – The tourism sector is targeting to attract regional and international tourists as the country hosts the largest exhibition fair scheduled for next month.
A pedestal to promote the country’s brand on the international market, the country’s prime tourism fair has started taking registrations for this year’s edition, targeting enhanced participation from both local and international stakeholders.
The virtual fair is expected to provide a vital conduit for the sector to reposition its brand given the limitations triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing a virtual conference in Harare yesterday Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr Givemore Chidzidzi said, “We are optimistic of improving participation during this year’s edition from the 190 participants we hosted last year. This will be very important to have critical exchange with our key source markets such as UK as well as the America. We want to utilise this platform to cement our position as a leader within regional tourism and also boost appetite to invest in Zimbabwe,” said Chidzidzi.
The fair will be held virtually but will offer one on one business meetings.
The Sanganai/ Hlanganani tourism fair is one of the largest exhibitions within Southern Africa, which has been instrumental in pushing strong linkages that have boosted the performance of the country’s tourism sector.
