HARARE -ZANU PF Women’s League Secretary for Administration Cde Monica Mutsvangwa says without the late former President of Zambian Leader ,Dr Kenneth Kaunda’s vision and succor, the root to freedom and gender equality would have been longer.
Speaking during the virtual memorial service held for the great Statemen, Cde Mutsvangwa enunciated his dedication to seeing a free Africa.
“It gives me great pleasure to be invited to this Memorial Service hosted by the ANC Women’s League of a Great Pan African Africanist Dr Kaunda. Kenneth Kaunda’s long life combined all attributes that shine in the best of humanity,” Cde Mutsvangwa said.
“He was a nationalist who fought and won freedom for Zambia and all of us. He was a Pan-Africanist who championed African Unity and total continental freedom through the OAU.”
Cde Mutsvangwa highlighted that the militant leader, defied and thwarted the post World War II British schemes and confronted imperial Portugal.
“KK turned Zambia into a sanctuary of guerrilla nationalist movements confronting imperial Portugal and Britain both of them in an unholy alliance with apartheid South Africa,” she said.
“He firmly believed in the power and spirit of the majority African populations to offset the military advantage of racist and apartheid white minority regimes ensconced in Luanda, Lourenco Marques, Salisbury, Windhoek and Pretoria.
“KK will forever hold pride of place in our hearts. For all Africa, there is the celebration of our struggles for freedom, independence, democracy and justice.”
