Teen Rescue Mission has donated a wheel chair to Brenda Musevenzo (10) from Chendambuya village in Gokwe, who is disabled.
Brenda has never been on a wheelchair since birth and Teen Rescue Mission on June 12, came to her rescue.
The donation drew a huge crowd from the community and it was graced by the Member of Parliament Honourable Munetsi, Chief Veremi Chitsikidzo Mwendaziya, Chief Finmore Mugadza, Village Chairman Mr Chimombe, and the local councillor Mr Nyandoro Bvunzawabaya.
Hon Munetsi welcomed Teen Rescue Mission team being led by its Director Mr Lovemore Matuka.
He praised the organisation by remembering his area and changing the life of Brenda.
Hon Munetsi also expressed his gratitude to Teen Rescue Mission for travelling all the way from Harare to the rural areas.
Speaking on the same event Chief Mugadza said this type of donation has never happened in his community.
He thanked Teen Rescue Mission in remembering Brenda from his community.
“This will make Brenda Musevenzo realise that she is loved and very thought off,” he said.
Mr Matuka said they were deeply touched by Brenda’s story which resulted in them sourcing for funds to help the young girl.
“As an organisation we feel so honoured and humbled to be part of such an emotional event. As we present a wheel chair to Brenda,” he said.
Mrs Ratidzo Musevenzo, Brenda’s mothers could be seen in tears as she ran out of words.
“Thank you Teen Rescue Mission for this great gift to my daughter,” she said.
Mr Bvunzawabaya thanked Teen Rescue Mission on reaching to their community.
“Many people when they hear about going to the rural areas they give excuses, but Teen Rescue Mission made such a huge sacrifice, coming through public transport, having limited funds and using the dust road to come and show Brenda such love, have touched us, this shows us that disability is not inability,” he said.
Among the donations by Teen Rescue Mission was also football balls, and clothes. The event was closed up with a football match entitled “No to Drugs, Early Pregnancy and Crime” in teens and youth.
Teen Rescue Mission is a non-governmental organisation which promotes and advocate for sustainable teenage programmes against deprivation multi treatment and rebellion. This is aimed at moulding a disciplined, responsible and purposeful youth.
