Governments To Capacitate Artisanal Miners

“We will double our efforts to capacitate this sector so that we achieve national vision”.
By Business Reporter.
BULAWAYO – Government says it will avail a special package to capacitate artisanal miners as they have a critical role in the quest to attain a 12 billion United States dollar mining industry by 2023.
For a US$12 billion mining economy to be realised by 2023, artisanal miners need to surpass their thirty-five tonnes record produced in 2018.
This was underscored by the Minister of Finance and Economic Development Professor Mthuli Ncube when he engaged small scale miners in Bulawayo this Saturday.
“This has been an exciting engagement, we as government we are happy that key sectors are keen to increase production. We will double our efforts to capacitate this sector so that we achieve national vision,” said the Finance Minister.
Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) spokesperson Mr Dosman Mangisi spoke about the need to establishment a dedicated miners’ bank which will propel productivity in the mining sector.
“We need a special bank where our needs will be a priority. We need a friendly taxation policy and this engagement with the minister so that there are no hindrances to our operations,” he said.
Minister Ncube also clarified on the recently gazetted Statutory Instrument 127 of 2021 highlighting that it was designed to level the playing field for market participants.
