Linda Masarira files for divorce

HARARE – Labour Economist African Democrats (LEAD) President, Linda Masarira files for divorce after two and half years of separation. The separation was caused by abuse and violent  Gilbert Kaingidza, the Harare Times reports.
According to the High Court papers seen by this publication Linda Masarira filed for divorce through her lawyer Cyprian Chabvepi on the 3rd of May 2021 under case number HC1930/21.
“The parties were married each on the 14th of June 2019 in Marondera in terms of the Marriage Act Chapter 5:11.”
“Defendant (Gilbert Kaingidza) deserted the family home and carried a number of particulars belonging to both parties. On leaving home the only item defendant left was his passport,” reads Court papers.
“The parties have been leading separate lives for an aproximately 18 months after defendant deserted matrimonial home following charges of domestic violence and attempted murder levelled against him sometime in September 2019. This was following complaints of such against defendant person”, reads Court papers.
She separated from her estranged ex-husband Gilbert Kaingidza in October 2019 after he fled Zimbabwe from Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) who had apprehended him for domestic violence and attempted murder charges.
Contacted for comment Linda Masarira says, that it was a marriage that never was as Gilbert was a man on a mission to destroy her.
“I am glad that he showed his true colours earlier as I might have been now one of the late victims of domestic violence in Zimbabwe”, she said.
The parties marriage was never blessed with any children neither did they aquire any property together.
