Chigwedere Declared Provincial Hero

HARARE – The President and First Secretary of ZANU PF, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has conferred a Liberation Hero Status to the late Cde Aeneas Soko Chigwedere.

Cde Chigwedere died this Friday morning due to Covid-19.

 In a statement, ZANU PF Secretary for Administration,  Obert Mpofu said the late Cde Chigwedere will be buried at the Marondera Provincial Heroes Acre.

His Excellency, the President and First Secretary  Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has conferred Liberation war Hero Status to the late Cde Aeneas Soko Chigwedere who died on the 22 January 2021. He will be buried at the  Provincial Heroes Acre, Marondera, he said.

The late was born in Wedza on the 25th of November 1939 and became a teacher in 1965 .He later became a headmaster before rising to Regional Education Director in the ministry, before his retirement.

He became Wedza legislator in 1995 before becoming Senator in 2008.

Cde Chigwedere was Education Minister between 2001 and 2008 before he was appointed Mashonaland East governor and resident minister from 2008 to 2013.
