By Sibusiso Ncube
HARARE ZANU –  PF Secretary for Women’s League Cde Mabel Chinomona has handed over seed and regalia to complement the Pfumvudza scheme and beef up covid19 prevention efforts.
The Women’s League has for a long time complemented Government efforts in food production and PPEs production seen through the first phase of the face masks launched by the President and First Secretary of ZANU PF Cde E.D Mnangagwa which saw the production of 400 000 masks.
Speaking during the handover ceremony of the ZANU PF Women’s League Covid-19 seed maize relief programme and handover of the ZANU PF Party Regalia material for the production of face masks to all the ten Provinces, Cde Chinomona encouraged women to play their role in ensuring that the country is fed and protected from the deadly pandemic which has killed 308 people in Zimbabwe so far.

“I would like to express our profound and heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency the President of rhe Republic of Zimbabwe and First Secretary of our Party ZANU PF Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa for the Party regalia material he has given us foe the second phase of the face masks production. In the first phase, the Women’s League was able to produce approximately 400 000 face masks that were distributed countrywide,” she said.

“I wish to encourage all Provincial Chairwomen to make local arrangements for the production of face masks to be distributed equitably to our membership.
“Women suffer the most from the brunt of this deadly virus, hence the need for us as women to take a more aggressive approach in the fight against the continued spread of the pandemic.”

She added that the woman has for a long time played a crucial role in feeding the nation and must continue.
“Traditionally and from time immemorial, women have been known to fend and provide household food for their families with the assistance of their male counterparts. It is against this background that we have been able to mobilise about five tonnes of maize to be distributed to more than 1000 beneficiaries across the country,” Cde Chinomona said.

“The Presidential Inputs Scheme currently running under the popular Pfumvudza concept has veeb fully embraced by the women countrywide.
“We would like to take the opportunity to extend our gratitude to the Ministry of Agriculture for the tremendous support they continue to render to the Women’s League in particular and women in general.”
